What’s Your Personal Theme for 2016?

The ending of the old year and beginning of each new year is a time when many of us feel naturally inclined to reflect on the past and aspire to the future. If you made some resolutions, by now you may have already discovered which ones will hold your attention and interest beyond the initial excitement of the new year. I’ve shared previously how I use the I Ching to find a “focal point” for my new year.

For 2015, my focal point was “14 – Sovereignty/Possession in Great Measure”. It is a very positive indicator of a great year ahead, and also a reminder to keep to my highest principles in ideas, words, convictions and actions. The theme of excited expectation is echoed wonderfully in a talk given by Reverend Sheila Gautreaux at my local Unity church. She used the idea of the season of ADVENTure and expanded on the metaphysical meaning of the season and key Biblical scripture.

“Advent is the expectation, the excitement around an arrival. This Advent season, energy around the world is focused on the coming, the rebirth, of the Christ. Why not put into this energy the seeds of that which you want to arrive in your life? Use all this energy as support. Holy Spirit guides us by universal laws like the Law of Mind Action (thoughts in mind produce after their kind) or the Law of Compensation (whatever you give out will come back to you). The universal laws are absolute…” You can watch the video here.

In following my excitement, I found that Seth had given some New Year’s Resolutions, as described in  Jane Roberts’ book. Dreams, “Evolution,” and Value Fulfillment, Volume One (A Seth Book).

(From Session 889)

One: I will approve of myself, my characteristics, my abilities, my likes and dislikes, my inclinations and disinclinations, realizing that these form my unique individuality. They are given me for a reason.

Two: I will approve of and rejoice in my accomplishments, and I will be as vigorous in listing these— as rigorous in remembering them—as I have ever been in remembering and enumerating my failures or lacks of accomplishment.

Three: I will remember the creative framework of existence, in which I have my being. Therefore the possibilities, potentials, seeming miracles, and joyful spontaneity of Framework 2 will be in my mind, so that the doors to creative living are open.

Four: I will realize that the future is a probability. In terms of ordinary experience, nothing exists there yet. It is virgin territory, planted by my feelings and thoughts in the present. Therefore I will plant accomplishments and successes, and I will do this by remembering that nothing can exist in the future that I do not want to be there.

I decided to make a little chart with a column for each area of my life listed at the top of a column, such as “Work/Finances”, “Relationship”, “Family”, “Friends”, “Health”, and “Spirituality”. Under each title, I listed some of the things I’m excitedly anticipating in that area of life–“Appreciation of my work, excited about each day, helping others with sound and my voic , ease, passion,…” Since doing these activities I’ve already been delighted by the synchronicities that have shown up to let me know I’m on the right path. For example, I’ve “stumbled onto” movies and videos about the use of music to bring alive the minds and memories of people with Alzheimers disease; a documentary series about the ancient Egyptian pyramids, including information about the possible use of the pyramids for sound and vibrational healing: The Pyramid Code, a five-part series.

I hope these ideas inspire you to find your own personal theme and excitement in 2016!
